TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A family’s home burnt down near Lindsay after a fire started in their attic on Wednesday, according to a GoFundMe posted by the homeowner’s sister .

The organizer says the fire quickly spread to the roof and rest of the house, destroying the home and the family’s possessions. The mother and her baby daughter who lived in the home were out when the fire started.

“I am humbly asking the community for support, whether it be your time sharing the post, your prayers, or a donation,” the homeowner’s sister Erika Sanchez said. “It will be a long road for them and we’re eager to ease their burden.”

Sanchez says the funds raised will be used to help cover the cost of what the family lost, including basic care products such as food and clothing that will not be covered by insurance.

The Tulare County Fire Department says Lindsay City Fire responded to the scene near Road 204 and Avenue 256. The cause is under investigation.
