1. The Lalaurie House, Louisiana

The first haunted house on this list is in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Lalaurie house. It's an old mansion where Doctor Lalurie and his wife used to live. They were very social and known for their high-paid parties, but the couple had dark secrets. Their neighbors noticed the constant strange noises from their home, as she kept her slaves chained to the kitchen fireplace and brutally tortured them.

It was 1834 when a fire broke out at the home, and firefighters discovered seven enslaved people who were chained and starved to the walls in horrifically tortured positions. When the Lalauries' crime became public, they vanished and never came back. But from almost 200 years ago, the sounds of enslaved people have been heard, and the voices of unseen footsteps and moaning in the rooms are present there. Their neighbors still feel the paranormal activities there, which keep them up at night.

Another haunted house is found in India, which is 15km away from Chennai airport. It is the story of a house owner's daughter who died in the house, which is still a secret. It's been more than ten years, but the residents still see the ghost of the girl.

The exciting part is if you visit this place, your mobile signals will drop automatically, and the lights will start flickering. The door will open independently, and she will offer all the hospitality guests may receive even though Google Maps marks it as the most haunted house. Many residents heard the girl sobbing from the window, and she was still there waiting for the guests.

Here is another haunted story of this old mansion, built in 1765. This home is famous because George Washington abode there. But, it has some scary stories, after which it was named a haunted house. Years ago, Eliza Jumel, a wealthy woman, lived in the house with her husband, Roger Morris.

Her husband passed away in a strange incident, and some say his wife had something to do with his death. Eliza also passed away 150 years ago, but residents say her ghost still hangs there. They have heard some mysterious sounds and footsteps, and some have seen Eliza. Due to this spooky news, the museum offers people tours to look for ghosts.

5. Villisca Ax Murder House, Villisca, Iowa

The name suggests the Villisca Ax Murder House, located in a small town in Iowa. Back in 1912, a strange incident happened there. A resident one morning found the whole family and the two guests killed with an axe. This murder is still a mystery and unresolved. Visitors stay at night they hear the children's voices; they even see the shadows on the corridor, and doors slam by themselves.

6. The Amityville House, New York

The haunted house story is of 1974 when Ronald J. shot and murdered his entire family, parents, and two siblings. Later, he confessed to the murder and was sentenced to 25 years in jail. A year later, George and Kathleen bought this house cheaply. But the very next month, they left quickly and ran away.

The purchaser claimed they were awakened every morning at 3.15 a.m. when Ronald murdered his entire family. Also, their children start sleeping strangely, just as the kids of Ronald are found dead. Moreover, they heard the voices of screams and the smell of green slime from the walls.

This house has another tragic story that lies in California. Before this house was built, the land faced public execution when they hung a thief, after which the haunted stories were heard. After a while, in 1855, a man built a home for his family, but on the very first day, a fire broke out.

Day after day, things get worse, and one day, the man's younger daughter, Whaley, and Violet die. Afterward, the visitors reported seeing his daughter on the second floor, where she took her own life. Residents have said they also heard the footprints and feel awry there. They feel the cold spots whenever someone visits, and now this house turned into a museum. It's still a spooky and strange place.

8. Putulbari House, North Kolkata

The house was built by the landlords of Bengal, who were cruel to his behavior. He used to torture women and exploit them.
