Charla Marie Eastwood, 67, of Paola, Kan. passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on May 16, 1957, in Kansas City, Mo., to John and Elizabeth Swanson Dehaemers, Charla was united in marriage to Mark Eastwood on Feb. 15, 1997. She owned a commercial tenant finish construction company before attending Colorado Bible College, later Charis Bible College, where she began as an instructor before becoming the director of the college’s Overland Park campus. Charla was a member of La Cygne Christian Church.

James L. Mooney, age 65 died June 20, 2024 at his home in La Cygne, Kan. Jim was born on Nov. 16, 1958, in Independence, Mo., to Bobby and Barbara (Spendal) Mooney. Jim grew up in La Cygne, graduating from Prairie View High School in 1977. In 1979, Jim went to Kansas Horseshoeing School in Girard, Kan., where he received his diploma. He did horseshoeing for a few years as a business and then for himself and friends and family. Jim loved horses and had several in his lifetime. He was especially fond of his Arabian horse, Amigo.

MOUND CITY – American Medical Response (AMR) official Dawn Brooks gave the month-to-date ambulance reports from June 1 through June 15 at the Linn County Commission meeting on Monday, June 17. There have been a total of 85 calls resulting in 43 transports. The average response time is 15 minutes 42 seconds.
