Crews Rescue Two With Fall Injuries
First responders were activated to two separate rescue operations on Sunday, July 14, after individuals fell and injured themselves. A Sweet Home Medic unit was dispatched to the Upper Calapooia river at approximately 5:15 p.m. following a report of a male who jumped off a rock and broke his leg. The medic crew arrived on scene to find the patient was a quarter mile down a trail and lying in the water. With assistance from Linn County deputies, Linn County Search and Rescue, and Lane County SAR, the patient was packaged in a stokes, and a rope system was used to lift the patient to the trail.
Crews Sent to Assist in Larch Creek Fire
Linn County Task Force 12 was dispatched to the Larch Creek Fire near Dufur on Wednesday, July 10. They are responding as an Oregon State Fire Marshal resource to provide structural protection. Sweet Home Fire & Ambulance District sent a Type 3 fire engine with three personnel and an assistant task force leader. SHFAD reported its ability to send these personnel to Larch Creek is due in large part to increased seasonal staffing, made possible by the Wildfire Seasonal Staffing Grant from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Samaritan Scramble raises over $146,000 for Patient Support Program
Since the first Samaritan Scramble golf tournament in 2014, the event has raised over $1.3 million to support various services such as Sarah’s Place, mental health, Veteran’s Outreach, Samaritan Early Learning Center and Samaritan Treatment and Recovery Services. Man who stole rescue truck thief, caught in Albany, sentenced
A man who stole a fire department rescue truck in Vancouver earlier this year and abandoned it in Albany was sentenced to time in prison. Alex Joseph Doupe, 33, was arrested in January by Linn County Sheriff’s deputies after an Albany family woke up to find him in their home.
OSFM sends task force to Lone Rock Fire through Immediate Response
The Oregon State Fire Marshal is mobilizing resources to assist locals battling the Lone Rock Fire in Gilliam County. A task force from Linn County and a division supervisor were mobilized early this morning. The fire sparked Saturday afternoon and burned about 4,200 acres by evening. The Gilliam County Sheriff has Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation notices in place for the community of Lone Rock.
