Family of woman fatally shot in 2021 ‘relieved’ after Fort Wayne man pleads guilty to murder
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 33-year-old Fort Wayne man pleaded guilty to murder Monday afternoon in the fatal 2021 shooting of his girlfriend. Tykwan Walker admitted to killing 37-year-old Heather Hobbs on Valentine’s Day three years ago during the hearing. If Allen Superior Court Judge David Zent accepts the plea agreement, Walker will be sentenced to 45 years in prison for the shooting.
Black Pine seeks public support to help bobcat get MRI
ALBION, Ind. (ADAMS) – Representatives with Black Pine Sanctuary are putting out an urgent plea for help in the medical care of one of the residents. An MRI for a wild animal can cost thousands of dollars. It is however something they say their bobcat, Evaki, needs. She came to the sanctuary in 2019 after already suffering from medical issues in her legs. After the problem seemed to come back a specialist said she needed the MRI.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Rite Aid is aiming to close nearly 20 additional stores in Ohio as the pharmacy chain continues through its Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. According to documents filed on June 28 and July 1 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Rite Aid proposed the closure of 18 more stores.
Indiana experts stress fireworks safety ahead of July 4th
As Hoosiers gear up for Independence Day, safety experts are stressing the importance of handling fireworks responsibly. Trevor Hash, division chief for prevention at the Noblesville Fire Department, warned against using illegal fireworks because of the dangers they pose. Washington — Rep. Victoria Spartz, an Indiana Republican, has been charged with a weapons violation for bringing a handgun in her luggage to Dulles International Airport in Virginia. In a statement, a spokesperson for Spartz said the congresswoman "accidentally carried an empty handgun in her suitcase with no magazine or bullets, which she did not realize was in the pocket of her suitcase, while going through security at Dulles airport."
