MANHATTAN, Kan. — For the week ending July 28, 2024, there were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 13% very short, 33% short, 52% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 34% short, 52% adequate, and 2% surplus. Field Crops Report: Corn condition rated 5% very poor, 12% poor, 31% fair, 40% good, and 12% excellent. Corn silking was 84%, ahead of 78% last year and 76% for the five-year average. Dough was 48%, ahead of 35% last year and 32% average.
