Lewiston receives $2.5 million in federal funding to redevelop and create new housing
LEWISTON, Maine — Lewiston Housing and the City of Lewiston have received a $2.5 million federal grant to help revitalize the Tree Streets neighborhood. The funding, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, supports the Growing Our Tree Streets Transformation Plan, a 25-year project aimed at improving housing in the area.

Officials are warning residents and visitors to stay out of the water at Colony Beach in Kennebunkport near the mouth of the Kennebunk River. Main Street to Close for Car Show
Downtown Sanford will be hopping next Friday night, July 26, with the sounds of Doo-wop, the aroma of barbecue and the flash of chrome. More than 100 vintage cars are expected to line Main Street for Cruising with Friends, a car show organized by Friends of Downtown. Main Street between Washington Street and Winter Street will be closed to car traffic from 4 to 8 pm. A food court will be set up at Main Street Marketplace.
Consolidated Communications requests changing 6 vets’ banner placements
Southport Selectman Gerry Gamage will contact Consolidated Communications regarding a request to move six veterans’ banner placements. Consolidated Communications didn’t specify the problem, according to town officials. During the July 17 selectmen’s meeting, Gamage volunteered to find out more about the request. He will contact Consolidated Communications’ employee Paul Perry who lives in Southport. “I will ask him what their issue is with the banners,” Gamage said.
