LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) – Guests who come to the Columbiana County Fair are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate.

The drive is part of the Fight the Hunger — Stock the Trailer Food Drive. It helps junior fairs raise food donations for local food banks across the area, and they’re competing with other area county fairs across Northeast Ohio.

At the end of the week, they’ll weigh all of the donations and tally up a winner from all the food donated this summer.

“It’s very important for us. It’s a rough time right now in this economy. Everybody needs food and water. Everyone can spare something to help those in need in Columbiana County,” said Natalie Heim, Junior Fair Board member.

The winner of the collection drive gets a grand prize of $5,000.
