Litchfield schools update athletic requirements

Litchfield Elementary School District is implementing requirements for student athletics in the coming school year.

For competitive middle school athletes, a sports physical and proof of insurance will be mandated. Sports physicals range in price starting $75, but LESD is partnering with Goodyear’s Mountain Park Health Center to provide free and low-cost appointments to qualifying families.

The reduced-cost physicals are available July 15 to Aug. 23 and while suplies last, students can leave the clinic with their required documents and a new backpack.

The LESD school board approved the requirement of athletic fees that families will be responsible for in the fall. Caretakers will be charged for each sport that their student participates in, with appeal opportunities available with local administrators.
