NEXT ACT!, now in its fourteenth year, is an expansion of Capital Repertory Theatre’s (theREP) commitment to the development of new work. The multi-day summit is also designed to complement the Upper Hudson Valley’s rich diverse populations. NEXT ACT! New Play Summit 14 will take place in April 2025 (exact dates coming soon) and will swirl around the theatre’s 2025 World Premiere Production of “Rosie Is Red And Everybody Is Blue” by John Spellos, the winning script from the 2023 Summit.
Sandoval home destroyed in early Saturday morning fire
A Sandoval home was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning. Upon arrival, Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson said the living portion of the home at 503 East Mississippi was fully involved and the fire was venting through the roof. They were able to stop the fire from spreading into a breezeway that connected the home to a three-car attached garage.
Police Beat for Saturday, August 18th, 2024
A 21-year-old Salem woman was arrested by Salem Police Friday night for alleged domestic battery. Shaina Phillips of North Broadway was arrested when police went to her home for the second time for a disturbance. The first time police left after the two ignored a suggestion one of them left the home for the night to avoid further problems. Instead, police were called back after Phillips was allegedly trying to force a bathroom door open where the alleged male victim was attempting to avoid contact. In the process, police say the male was hit by the door several times. Phillips was taken to the Marion County Jail to await any court action on Monday.
