PHOENIX — Crews continue working to contain two large wildfires threatening farm land in rural Arizona near Kearny, officials said. The Pinal County incidents are known as the Romero Fire and the Circle Fire. The size and containment figures reported Monday for both fires were unchanged from the previous day.

PHOENIX — Power was largely restored around metro Phoenix on Monday morning after storms knocked out electricity for thousands of customers the night before. However, around 200 people went without power between 67th and 59th avenues as well as Cholla Street to Olive Avenue early Monday morning, according to the Salt River Project. SRP estimated the power to return around 7 a.m.

Elderly man dies after being pulled from backyard pool in Ahwatukee
PHOENIX — An elderly man is dead after he was pulled from a backyard pool in Ahwatukee, the city's fire department said. Phoenix firefighters were dispatched to the area of 48th Street and Elliot Road for reports of a drowning. When crews arrived, they found an elderly man who was pulled out of a backyard pool by his family, unconscious and not breathing.
