The city of Goodyear is set to host its sixth annual Goodyear Rocks festival 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 in partnership with the Alice Cooper Solid Rock Foundation. The event will take place at 420 Estrella Parkway, the Goodyear Recreation Campus.

“We get more and more attraction every year,” said Natalie Reinen, Goodyear’s festival and events coordinator.  “A lot of our events are geared towards younger children, but Goodyear rocks kind of has a specific feel to it that draws in our young adult crowd and it’s really special.”

Attendees can look forward three performances showcasing emerging local artists from the Alice Cooper Solid Rock Foundation. The event will also include a live art demonstration, coordinated with the performances on stage.

In addition to the visual and audible arts, culinary artists in food trucks will be on-site offering a selection of culinary options.

“The talent we every year has been getting better. The three we have opening up have a pretty big following on social media and it’s really cool when you get seasoned professionals to come out and entertain everybody,” said  Reinen.

The bands, "Christopher Shayne," "Dorsten," and "Summer and the Rain," are performing and each cover different styles of rock music including rock and roll, folk-rock, Americana, and pop rock.

“When this event first started, it was a way to integrate the Alice Cooper foundation into Goodyear and now we have multiple events throughout the year where the kids come out and perform,” said Reinen.

The Alice Cooper Solid Rock Foundation, founded in 1998 by rock musician Alice Cooper, is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting young people through music, art, and life skills education. The foundation aims to empower youth by providing resources for creative expression and personal growth.

Equipped with music studios, rehearsal spaces, and art facilities, the center encourages teens and young adults from ages 12 to 20 to foster their creativity. It offers mentorship, educational workshops, and community service opportunities aimed at empowering at-risk youth.

Solid Rock Teen Center offers a safe space for teens to participate in music lessons, songwriting workshops, and visual arts, fostering a sense of community among participants. This year's Goodyear Rocks is extra exciting said Reinen as the community celebrates the Goodyear chapter of The Alice Cooper School of Rock, which is set to open in 2025.
