    Below are summaries of local Legion baseball games between June 20 and June 25, compiled by Nick Tabatt.

    Little Falls struggles against Foley

    The Little Falls Legion baseball team fell to Foley on the road Monday, June 24, losing 11-6. Carter Gwost and Nick Sprang both went 2-4 at the plate, with Gwost hitting two doubles. Braxten Santella went 1-3, also hitting a double. Charlie Smieja pitched four innings, while Jake Dahlberg stepped in for two.

    Pierz falls to 76ers

    The Pierz Legion baseball team traveled to play against the St. Cloud 76ers Monday, June 24. Pierz fell 5-1. The 76ers scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, once in the third inning and two more times in the fifth. Pierz’s only score came from Weston Woitalla, driving in by Bo Woitalla in the seventh inning. Kaden Kruschek pitched the first three innings, throwing one strikeout and allowing two walks. Max Barclay led the team on the mound, throwing three strikeouts in two innings. Pierz had two hits and two errors while the 76ers had eight hits and one error.

    Royalton beats EVW and Melrose

    The Royalton Legion baseball team went 2-2 in the last four games, starting with beating Eden-Valley-Watkins Tuesday, June 25, winning 8-7. Jonah Schneider pitched over six innings, throwing six strikeouts and allowed six hits. The Royalton hitters with RBIs were Schneider, Brady Yourczek and Ethan Albright.

    Royalton also took on Albany Thursday, June 20. The 9-1. The hitting leaders include Nelson going 1-2 and Sean Scmidtbauer going 1-3 with an RBI. Nelson pitched three innings, throwing two strikeouts. Kirk Yourczek

    Royalton fell to Upsala/Swanville Area in a close game Monday, June 17. USA won 8-7. Royalton’s Nick Liebold and Jake Albright went 2-4 at the plate, with Liebold hitting two doubles, scoring two runs and having one RBI. Albright followed with two RBIs.

    The team beat Melrose 9-4 Thursday, June 13. Keaton Nelson pitched six innings, throwing five strikeouts. and allowed one hit. Brady Yourczek went 2-3 at the plate, having four RBIs, two doubles and three runs. Nelson and Kirk Yourczek both went 2-3.

    Patriots Sr. team play against Paynesville and Holdingford

    The Upsala/Swanville Area Patriots Senior Legion baseball team took on Paynesville, Monday, June 24, losing 4-1. Jack Primus was the losing pitcher, allowing four walks and earning five strikeouts. Primus also lead the Patriots at the plate with one run batted in. Carson Primus and Bryce Binek also earned a hit for the team.

    The Patriots struggled against Holdingford Thursday, June 20, losing 13-0. Zac Johnson had two hits out of three appearances at the plate.

    Patriots Jr. team take on Minnewaska

    The Upsala/Swanville Area Patriots Junior Legion baseball team won both games in a doubleheader against Minnewaska Tuesday, June 25. The Patriots won the first game 7-4, with Jonah Urman throwing six strikeouts in six innings. At the plate, Isaac Gapinski and Jake Leners drove in two runs each. As a whole, the team earned six stolen bases.

    The Patriots won the second game of the doubleheader 8-7. Caden Beseman went 3-3 at the plate, along with triple in the third inning and Gavin Shutter went 2-4. Beseman also stole two bases. Hunter Moore pitched five innings, allowing three walks and throwing seven strikeouts in over five innings.
