    Football schedules released for the 2024 season

    Despite Fall still being a couple months away the football season is just above the horizon. As everyone waits to watch their favorite teams on the gridiron, the the Little Falls Flyers and Pierz Pioneers have released their 2024 football schedules.

    The season will start with both teams playing each other on the Pioneers’ home field Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.

    The Pioneers will have its homecoming game hosting Melrose, Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. The Pioneers’ Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will also be recognized during halftime and a reception will be held after the game, in the middle school gym.

    Flyers will have their homecoming Friday, Sept. 20, taking on Perham.

    The Flyers’ biggest opponents this year includes taking on Dilworth-Glindon-Felton Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. DGF made it all the way to the semifinals game of the state tournament in 2023. Another opponent to beat is Detroit Lakes, who had a five-game winning streak last season and ended with a 7-2 record.

    One of the Pioneers’ teams to beat is Rockford Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. Rockford had a seven game winning streak and earned a 8-2 record last season. Another respectable opponent the Pioneers will play late in the season is Montevideo Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Montevideo went 6-4 in 2023.

    The Flyers and Pioneers will wrap up the season on the road Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Flyers will play against Thief River Falls while the Pioneers will take on Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead. Both games will start at 7 p.m.

    USA Patriots

    The Upsala/Swanville Area Patriots football team will start with a scrimmage at the Browerville High School, Saturday, August 24, at 9 a.m. The Patriots’ home opener will be against Pine River-Backus Friday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m.

    One of the teams to beat this season is Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on the road Friday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. BBE went 11-1 last year, and beat the Patriots in the Section 4A Championship.

    The Patriots will travel to their last game of the season, taking on West Central Area Wednesday, Oct. 16. The game will start at 7:00 p.m.

    Royalton

    The Royalton Royals football team will host the first game of the schedule, taking on Rockford Area Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.

    The Royals will end the regular season, hosting Paynesville Area Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
