LITTLE FALLS, NJ - The Little Falls Police Department has announced its participation in the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office Blue Envelope Program, a proactive initiative designed to assist drivers with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) during motor vehicle stops.

The Blue Envelope Program aims to enhance communication between law enforcement officers and individuals with ASD by providing a structured approach to document organization and interaction guidance. Each Blue Envelope serves as a compact repository for essential driver documents and includes detailed instructions for both the driver and the responding officer.

The Blue Envelope contains copies of the driver's license, vehicle registration, insurance card, and a contact card with pertinent information. This streamlined approach helps officers quickly identify drivers with ASD and provides guidance on how best to communicate and interact with them.

Caregivers and individuals on the autism spectrum can obtain a Blue Envelope from the Little Falls Police Department, as well as from all police departments across Passaic County and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The introduction of the Blue Envelope Program underscores the commitment of local law enforcement to improve safety and communication for individuals with ASD during traffic stops. For more information on the program or to obtain a Blue Envelope, community members are encouraged to contact the Little Falls Police Department.
