Newark PD Reports Gunpoint Robbery and Assault at Dollar General
On Sunday, July 21, a Dollar General store located in Newark fell victim to an armed robbery, as per the authorities. According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, a man walked into Dollar General at 420 Springfield Avenue at 8:29 a.m. through the rear entrance on the right side. The perpetrator then proceeded to demand cash from the cashier, while gesturing that he had a handgun. In the process, he also assaulted the employee on her left side.

Darwin Mejia, 38, was taken into custody around 2:45 a.m. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired.
Dan Noonan, Advocate for Cancer Awareness, Dies
Fire Department of New York (FDNY) Retired Firefighter Danny Noonan has passed away after a battle with leukemia. He was one of nearly 700 FDNY members who responded to a fire at the New York Telephone Company in Manhattan in 1975. Many of them were struck with cancer in the aftermath.

"It also allowed Estelle to pursue her passion as a writer and director." Estelle is currently a film major at Hofstra University.
