Union County Hosting Back to School Health Fair Sept. 7
ROSELLE, NJ - Start the new school year off strong and healthy with a visit to Union County's back to School Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 7. Numerous agencies and nonprofits will be available, offering free immunizations required for school, dental and vision screening, and school supplies. The program will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Warinaco Sports Center, 1 Park Dr., Roselle, NJ 07203. Fire Hits Two Avenue Businesses
The Verona Fire Department responded in force to a fire that broke out in one Bloomfield Avenue business and spread to another just after noon today. While the cause of the fire is unknown, a flat roof was being installed on a section of the building that houses Mizu Sushi. Sometimes, when that kind of roof is being installed, workers may use a propane torch to help the rubber adhere to the roof. According to VFD Chief Steve Tedesco, the fire appears to started at Mizu and then spread through the walls into Tia’s Food of Love. The catering business is on the ground floor of the building with apartments upstairs.

Passengers fear for their lives as fire erupts on NY Waterway ferry
JERSEY CITY — A New York Waterway ferry bringing passengers to New Jersey was evacuated after a fire on board.
