OPINION: Lawsuits involving city of Killeen making headlines, but what of them?
Lawsuits were very much in the news for the city of Killeen last week. On Tuesday, the city signed a waiver of service that will allow a lawsuit by Temple attorney C.J. Grisham to proceed in Waco federal district court. The suit, which is asking for $1 million in damages, was filed on behalf of several plaintiffs who claim their civil rights were violated by the city and several individuals, including the mayor. The city has until Aug. 25 to respond to the suit.

Early morning apartment fire in Temple displaces five people
Temple Fire & Rescue responded to a report of a structure fire at 6:50 a.m. Saturday at the Renata Square Apartments. The first crews arriving found heavy smoke and flames coming from an upstairs unit at the complex, 1811 E. Ave. K, according to a news release.
