Police work for tips for Special Olympics, Tip-a-Cop
Central Texas (FOX44) – Waco and Killeen police among others are working this week waiting tables for tips, raising money for Special Olympics. The annual Tip-a-Cop fundraiser will be taking place at Texas Roadhouse restaurants, bringing officers and local athletes together to raise money for Special Olympics programs. The funds raised go toward providing sports training and athletic competitions for local children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Lake Belton runners surpass 100 miles for summer
The Lake Belton Broncos’ cross-country team displayed exceptional dedication and determination this summer as they took on the 100-point challenge. This unique challenge involved athletes tracking their miles on the Strava app to reach 100 points. Of the 25 total athletes who participated, 13 successfully met this challenging goal.
Motorist receives critical injuries after vehicle wrecks into building at Adams Bend Apartments
A motorist is in critical condition following a wreck Sunday evening that ended in a collision with a building at Adams Bend Apartments in Temple. Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the incident at 5:50 p.m. Sunday at the apartments located at 3101 W. Adams Ave. in Temple. Crews found a single vehicle exited the roadway, struck a brick entrance, and then rolled over the security fence.
Heights council to hold public hearing on charter amendments
The Harker Heights City Council will consider a variety items during its regular meeting Tuesday. Following a lengthy consent agenda during which the council will consider amending roles, terms and appointments to several city committees and boards, the council will conduct a public hearing on possible amendments to the city charter.
