Police seize large quantities of marijuana, psilocybin after driver flees traffic stop
Killeen police officers discovered a large stash of different drugs as well as a rifle earlier this week after tracking a fleeing suspect to his apartment. The ordeal started as a traffic stop on Monday near the intersection of East Elms Road and Levy Lane, according to a post Thursday afternoon on the Killeen Police Department’s Facebook page.

County museum to host lecture honoring Vietnam War veterans
BELTON — The Bell County Museum will present a lecture presentation and Pinning Ceremony honoring Vietnam War veterans on Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. The special evening will feature a pinning ceremony by the Association of the United States Army and a presentation titled “The Vietnam Veteran: A Long Overdue Thank You” by First Gentleman of Baylor University.
Heights council moves forward on charter amendments
The City of Harker Heights hasn’t updated its charter in more than 33 years. That may change this fall if the City Council approves putting nearly two dozen proposed amendments on the November election ballot.

Killeen woman indicted after accused of punching old lady and stealing her dog
A Killeen woman was indicted this week on two felony counts after police said she punched an elderly woman and then stole the woman’s dog, CoCo. On Wednesday, a Bell County grand jury indicted Tesherrica Kaosha Walker, 39, on one count of aggravated robbery and one count of injury to an elderly person. Walker was booked into the Bell County Jail on May 21, and was being held on Thursday with a bond of $40,000, according to jail records.

More than 350 kids, parents and other caretakers went to the Stewart C. Meyer Library in Harker Heights on Wednesday for two shows by “The Singing Zoologist” Lucas Miller. For over an hour at each show, Miller kept young minds going and the giggles coming as he frolicked all over the Activity Center singing melodies with crazy lyrics that described some unusual animals.
