    Runners gather in Little Rock for Firecracker Fast 5K race on Fourth of July

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – More than 1,400 braved the heat and humidity to run the 48th annual Firecracker Fast 5K race in Little Rock Thursday.

    The 3.1-mile race started in the Heights neighborhood and finished at the War Memorial Stadium. The race is known for its fast, downhill course which attracts runners from all over the country.

    Pete Johnson from Celina, Texas won the men’s race in 14 minutes and 53 seconds, and Megan Taylor from Cave Springs crossed the line first in the women’s division in 16 minutes and 56 seconds.

    The first 50 men and women who finished the race received a firecracker trophy.
