LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Some travelers at the Little Rock airport are waiting to take off after a global tech outage has impacted flights across the world.

The first signs of the outage came early Friday morning. Systems were knocked out at businesses, banks, hospitals and 911 centers and even some media outlets went off air. Locally the chain reaction grounded flights at the Little Rock airport, leaving travelers in the Natural State.

Widespread disruptions were not the result of security incident or cyberattack: CrowdStrike

The outage came from Microsoft 365, which shined a light on just how much technology is intertwined in the system.

Around 6 a.m., officials at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock said only three flights had been impacted and reminded flyers to check flight status.

The airport then released an additional statement around 7 a.m. with updates for travelers.

“Additional flights have been delayed throughout the day due to the global tech outage,” the statement read. “If passengers are planning to travel today, they should check with their airline for the most updated information before arriving at the airport.”

As of 9:30 a.m., 14 flights have been delayed and one was cancelled out of Little Rock.

SkyScanner.com is still active and flights can also be tracked there.

Other than flights, officials with the Little Rock and North Little Rock police departments have said their emergency and fire systems have no been impacted.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
