Little Rock looks to expand view of Real Time Crime Center

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The City of Little Rock is stepping things up a notch to fight crime.

A new initiative called Eyes on the Rock invites everyday citizens with home security cameras to get involved.

Little Rock currently has more than 3,200 cameras around the city as part of its Real Time Crime Center.

Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. said he would like to boost that number to 30,000 by connecting with home and business security cameras.

“We’re not coming into your homes to seek anything else,” Scott said. “It’s about ensuring we have public safety and continuing to drive down crime and violent crime in our city, as we have seen. This is a very strategic way to do this quick, fast and in a hurry.”

Little Rock was the first city in Arkansas to install the Real Time Crime Center and the mayor credits that for lowering crime by 3 to 4 percent.
