100-acre wildfire blocks lanes on I-580 in East Bay

(KRON) — A large wildfire is blocking lanes on I-580 in the East Bay Thursday night.

The fire has grown to 100 acres in size east of Livermore, per Cal Fire. It is near North Flynn Road.

Three westbound lanes of I-580 are blocked. Crews first responded at about 9:51 p.m. Thursday.

The fire is spreading due to wind, and it is burning in areas where the terrain makes it difficult to access, Cal Fire said. Currently, the fire is 0% contained.

No structures are threatened as of the time this story was published. Firefighters are focusing on keeping the flames from crossing I-580, Chelsea Burkett with Cal Fire’s Santa Clara unit said.
