Alisson Becker has made his long-awaited return to training with Liverpool following an extended break this summer.

The goalkeeper is the final member of the Reds’ current squad to report back to the AXA Training Centre. Liverpool's social media account shared a video of the Brazilian being greeted by Mohamed Salah on Friday morning as he prepares to meet new head coach Arne Slot for the first time.

Despite exiting the Copa America earlier than Darwin Nunez , Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister , Alisson has returned to training nearly a week after his South American counterparts, having been given an extended break by Liverpool.

The 31-year-old started all four games for Brazil out in the United States, but couldn’t do anything to prevent them going out on penalties at the quarter-final stage against Nunez’s Uruguay.

Since that elimination at the start of July, Alisson has been spending time with his family. Posts from his wife Natalia on Instagram over the past few weeks have shown Liverpool’s No.1 enjoying his time off.

First up for Alisson was a trip to Portugal to celebrate his niece’s birthday, before he returned home to Brazil to relax with his family in his home state of Rio Grande do Sul.

During his time off, Alisson was seen taking in a spot of fishing with his wife and two children, as well as riding horses with his son.

Now back on Merseyside, the Brazilian will meet with his new club coach following the departure of Jurgen Klopp , who brought him to Liverpool back in 2018. Alisson could make his first appearance back on Sunday, with the Reds facing Sevilla and Las Palmas in their final pre-season games at Anfield , with the second of those being played behind closed doors.

Liverpool.com says: It’s good to see Alisson back, and hopefully he’ll be straight into the swing of things again in one of those two games on Sunday. Fingers crossed the extended break has done him some good after he suffered more than his fair share of injury problems last season.

His return could also be significant for Caoimhin Kelleher . The Irishman has been linked with a move away from Anfield as he looks to potentially tie down a No.1 spot elsewhere, but has been needed in Alisson’s absence this summer. With the Brazilian back now, a decision can be made on his future – hopefully he will choose to stay put.
