Liverpool has still only heard from Arne Slot in fits and starts. Certainly, after more than eight years of Jurgen Klopp press conferences, there is more of a "get to know you" process underway — making the Dutchman's first program notes a matter of particular interest .

They come ahead of a double-header at Anfield against Sevilla and Las Palmas, with the latter fixture being played behind-closed-doors. As well as appearing in the program, Slot's message to supporters has also been made available on Liverpoolfc.com .

It's full of interesting snippets, and we'll bring you three key things we spotted here. The general tone was one of satisfaction with the US tour, but sincere belief in the room for improvement — something which might be made easier by significant returns, with Alexis Mac Allister reporting back as a Copa America winner.

Slot congratulated the Argentine, and explained the plan for him and the other returning stars. Here's what we noticed.

    Arne Slot's first Anfield visit

Slot sounds excited for his first appearance at Anfield as head coach. But he reminded fans that he's been to the famous stadium before.

“As you know, I have already been fortunate enough to experience the Anfield atmosphere as a spectator previously, but this will be my first taste of it as Liverpool’s head coach and I am looking forward to seeing – and hearing! – you all," wrote Slot. "I know you will give my players, my staff and myself all of your support going forward."

Sure enough, Slot has already discussed his first visit to Anfield, which came way back in 2017. But some might have missed it, so we'll fill you in now.

Slot was in attendance for a 2-0 win over Spurs during the Klopp era. A brace from Sadio Mane secured victory.

As it happens, Slot was sitting with none other than Michael Edwards , who returned to the FSG fold this summer. Then the coach at Cambuur, he was there as a guest of Pep Lijnders, who has long championed his compatriot.

    Double friendly explained

The program notes are technically for the Sevilla game, the only one that those in attendance will get to watch. But mere hours later, Liverpool will also host Las Palmas.

Slot acknowledged this fact. He shed some light on the somewhat quirky scheduling:

“For sure, having everyone back will help us to continue improving as we head into the new season," he said. "Those players will get some minutes under their belt [on Sunday] – this was the main reason we arranged two fixtures for this weekend – which is, of course, hugely important with the league season on the horizon."

Six days after the double header, Liverpool begins its Premier League season away at Ipswich Town. Slot knows that he will need to capitalize on a theoretically kind set of opening fixtures if he wants to be in title contention.

    Arne Slot's superpower

Liverpool's new boss could hardly avoid acknowledging that results in pre-season have been very good, especially against high-caliber Premier League opposition. But Slot also reflected on one of the major successes of preparations being the clean bill of health:

“As I have said already, it was hugely important that we were able to keep everyone fit and healthy throughout pre-season, and we were boosted this week by the return of our remaining international players to the AXA Training Centre, following their commitments at the European Championship and Copa America during the summer.

“Speaking of which, I am sure you will join me in congratulating Alexis Mac Allister, who won the Copa America with Argentina, adding to his already impressive medal collection."

Slot and his staff were unerringly good at keeping players fit during his time at Feyenoord despite playing a physical brand of football. It's been suggested that Liverpool, which has been plagued by injury issues in recent seasons while trying to maintain an intense identity, took note of this apparent anomaly when making its appointment.
