Liverpool rounded out their 2024/25 pre-season campaign with a win and a draw from their La Liga doubleheader against Sevilla and Las Palmas respectively .

The Reds ran out 4-1 winners against Sevilla in their first game of Sunday afternoon at Anfield in front of fans before drawing 0-0 behind closed doors with Las Palmas. The latter was a much drabber affair than the exciting 4-1 drubbing of Sevilla, but Liverpool boss Arne Slot will have learnt plenty from the two games ahead of the Reds Premier League opener against Ipswich Town next weekend.

Slot and co travel to Portman Road to take on newly-promoted Ipswich on Saturday, before returning to Anfield the following weekend to face off against Brentford in their home opener. On Sunday, Liverpool fans got to see Slot, the man tasked with replacing Jurgen Klopp , man the touchline for the first time ever at Anfield.

And if things go as well for the Dutchman as they did his predecessor, then Liverpool supporters are in for an exciting few years. But for as much as it was a new experience for the supporters, it was also one for Slot.

Having departed Feyenoord to take up the Liverpool job from Klopp, Slot was on the touchline at Anfield for the first time as the Reds boss - meaning he also got to experience for the first time 'You'll Never Walk Alone' in person.

The new Liverpool manager was filmed standing on the touchline with his coaching staff, soaking it all in as Anfield belted out Gerry & the Pacemaker's hit song.

And Reds supporters were quick to chime in on social media what they thought was going through Slot's head as he stood watching the Anfield tradition for the first time as Liverpool boss. One fan wrote on X: "When you realise how magnificently honoured you are to manage this club."

A second added: "Arne is soaking it in." A third wrote: "Embrace that feeling Arne, embrace the crowd and they will embrace you." A fourth commented: "He knows. YNWA." And a fifth said: "Good work so far Arne. YNWA new boss!!"

Liverpool.com says: "If Liverpool carry their performance against Sevilla into their opening Premier League fixtures, Slot will quickly become a fan favorite on Merseyside. The Reds were superb against their La Liga opponents at Anfield.

The games against Ipswich and Brentford are two games Liverpool should be favored in. However, the first real test of the Slot tenure comes on September 1, when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United."
