Liverpool has agreed a $12.8million fee with RB Salzburg for the sale of youngster Bobby Clark as the midfielder closes in on a departure from Anfield .

The 19-year-old has one goal in 14 senior appearances for the Reds after a promising campaign last season but will leave the club this summer in order to further develop his career.

The Reds midfielder has been given the green light by Liverpool to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the Austrian giants after a deal was struck, according to The Athletic , with a 17.5 per cent sell on clause inserted into the deal.

The clever trick ensures that Liverpool will not miss out on any future sale of the player, thanks to sporting director Richard Hughes , whose efforts now mean the Reds could pocket a handy injection of cash in years to come.

But the 45-year-old isn't the only one who has been instrumental in the move. In fact, two former Reds have also played a major part in Clark's impending move to the 2023-24 Austrian Bundesliga runners-up this summer.

Former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders is now in charge of Die Roten Bullen following his departure from Anfield at the end of last season, so perhaps it is no surprise the interest from the Austrian outfit is there. In fact, Lijnders is determined to be reunited with Clark.

And it's no surprise, given how much Clark flourished under the coaching of Lijnders. After making his professional debut as a 17-year-old in the 9–0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield in August 2022, the teenager has gone on to record 14 appearances for the Reds.

His impressive development is also thanks to former Reds coach Vitor Matos, who is now Lijnders' No 2 at Salzburg. Together, the pair will hope that they can continue developing Clark and turn him into one of Europe's most promising midfielders.

Still only 19, the former Newcastle youth player has bags of potential, as shown with 13 goals and five assists in 37 games for Liverpool's Under-18's, as well as five goals and six assists for the Under-21's. There was also a solitary goal for the senior side in the 6-1 demolition of Sparta Prague in the Europa League last season.
