Luis Diaz has been persistently linked with a transfer away from Anfield , particularly catching Barcelona's eye.

Yet, there's been no concrete offer for his signatures, despite rumblings of interest from the Catalans as well as Manchester City . Reports in Colombia this August stoked rumors that Barcelona was in talks to snap up Diaz, potentially eyeing a late-summer switch before the window shuts on August 30.

Adding to the frenzy, El Chiringuito reckoned that Diaz had nodded to a five-year deal with Pep Guardiola's City, who seemed ready to splash out £60 million ($77.2 million). However, it appears these whispers haven't translated into tangible approaches. According to the Liverpool ECHO , the Reds haven't received an approach for the Colombia international.

In an intriguing turn, Mundo Deportivo suggests that while Nico Williams' commitment to Athletic Bilbao post-Euro 2024 has put a pause on one Barcelona prospect, Diaz is still very much on the Spanish team's radar. Barcelona hasn't knocked on Liverpool's door over this potential coup, but it is aware of the player's admiration.

Luis Manuel Diaz, the winger's father, has spoken about his son's affections for Barcelona, hinting at a childhood dream to don the team's colors. "The truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment," he told Win Sports. "It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there.

"So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him. Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world."

However, Barcelona's financial woes could stand in the way of any potential move for Diaz, as it's believed the team is currently unable to match the figures Liverpool would want. As per the latest buzz, if the Reds were to let Diaz go, it wouldn't be for anything less than a hefty fee... think north of the £50 million ($64.3 million) that was tagged on Williams.
