Liverpool transfer business faces an increasing amount of time pressure, with a little over two weeks before the window closes for the summer. The Reds are still waiting for the first signing of the Arne Slot era, but Giorgi Mamardashvili looks an increasingly viable candidate .

The Valencia goalkeeper would not be slated for an immediate impact at Anfield , with Alisson still going strong between the sticks. But it would be an astute act of succession planning, albeit one that ignores the areas where Liverpool could do with strengthening as a matter of more urgency.

A deal for Jens Hjerto-Dahl would have even more of an eye on the future. But Richard Hughes will not be able to complete that deal without overcoming significant competition.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. First up, it's the latest on Mamardashvili.

    Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia)

Mamardashvili has given his assent to an arrangement that would see him head on loan to Bournemouth for two seasons before linking up with the Liverpool team, reports Spanish outlet AS . But that has perturbed certain people at Valencia.

Behind the scenes, the 23-year-old has reportedly been saying for some time that he would either move to a top club or else stay at Valencia. But this proposal would see him go to a mid-table Premier League side, potentially for two years, which seems like a far more sideways or even backward step.

It would also rule out the possibility of Mamardashvili staying an extra year at Valencia after striking a deal with Liverpool, a further disappointment to the La Liga outfit. But the Reds are still "confident" that their proposal will be accepted.

Liverpool.com says: You can see why Valencia wouldn't be best pleased with this arrangement. Leaving for Liverpool is one thing, but signing up for two years at Bournemouth is quite another.

Mundo Deportivo has noted another problem, in that Premier League rules would seemingly prevent Liverpool from signing Mamardashvili and then immediately loaning him out to another side in the division. So despite the goalkeeper's "agreement", perhaps alternative arrangements would need to be made.

A deal whereby Liverpool agrees a transfer but sends Mamardashvili back to Valencia for a season could be best for all parties. The La Liga side is placated, the goalkeeper continues to earn high-level experience, and the Reds are able to get the transfer over the line.

    Jens Hjerto-Dahl (Tromso)

An unfamiliar name to most, Jens Hjerto-Dahl has nonetheless been cropping up on a number of scouting radars. The teenage Norwegian talent has attracted interest from Liverpool, according to HITC .

The outlet claims that the 18-year-old, who has represented Norway at youth level, has turned heads having broken into the Tromso side. Liverpool, for its part, has been monitoring the midfielder for more than a year.

However, other big clubs have shown an interest too. Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa and Tottenham are all keen, as are the likes of Everton, Coventry City and Sheffield United.

Some of Hjerto-Dahl's suitors intend to make a move before the end of the summer transfer window. Tromso's record sale remains the deal which took Morten Gamst Pedersen to Blackburn in 2004 for around $2.5m (£1.9m/€2.25m).

Liverpool.com says: There can be no complaints about Liverpool strengthening for the future. But if Slot's first summer ends without any signings designed to go straight into the first-team squad, it will be a slight concern.

There is truth in Slot's claims that he has inherited a very good squad that is hard to strengthen. But Manchester City and Arsenal have both found ways to do so, having finished above Liverpool last season, and the Reds cannot afford to be left behind.
