Arne Slot stunned by what Trent Alexander-Arnold did in Liverpool training session

Trent Alexander-Arnold left Arne Slot stunned with what he did in Liverpool first-team training this week.

The Reds right-back has impressed since making his full return to pre-season and is continuing to catch the eye of his new boss ahead of Saturday's trip to Ipswich Town as Liverpool opens its 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

That was evident in a recent clip uploaded onto Liverpool's official X account on Thursday, where the manager and player were showing off their skills from behind the touchline. Slot could be seen impressively curling the ball into the back of the net, before Alexander-Arnold took matters into his own hands.

The England international can be heard saying "everyone can do that" before the Dutchman challenged him to repeat the trick. However, Alexander-Arnold decided to bring the ball even further back to really test his skills.

After taking a few steps back, Slot claims it is "impossible" to score from that distance, and Alexander-Arnold proves him right with his first attempt, before Slot affords him one more go.

This time, however, Alexander-Arnold succeeds, beautifully curling the ball round from behind the goal and into the net, leaving Slot in disbelief and applauding his player as the 25-year-old stands with a grin on his face.

And the short clip will be most welcomed by Reds fans, who will be more than happy to see the star right-back getting on well with the new manager amid his ongoing contract feud , with Alexander-Arnold yet to extend his deal beyond next summer.

As a result, Real Madrid and even Barcelona have been linked with snapping the Scouser up on a free transfer in 12 months time, although Liverpool has already insisted that it remains relaxed around the situation.

Nonetheless, Alexander-Arnold will be hoping he's done enough in just under two weeks of training to earn a starting birth for Liverpool's season opener against Ipswich on Saturday. The Reds travel to Suffolk for the first time since 2002 as Slot aims to get off to the perfect start in his first competitive game as manager.

Having started against Sevilla in Sunday's 4-1 demolition at Anfield alongside the majority of the usual starting XI, it can be expected that Alexander-Arnold will line up for the Reds on Saturday lunchtime, resuming his usual role at right-back.
