Mohamed Salah opened up on the difference of working under Arne Slot compared to Jurgen Klopp as he made a rally cry to ensure that the new Liverpool head coach does not feel "pressure" too soon into the job.

The Egyptian superstar was at his scintillating best during a well-earned 2-0 victory over Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town on the opening day of the campaign. Contributing to the Reds' second goal in the encounter, he put the seal on a strong first competitive showing under the new boss.

After weathering some early pressure from the Tractor Boys in the first half, Liverpool took control of the game after the break to score twice and earn the three points. After supplying the assist for the opener from Diogo Jota on the hour mark, Salah put the result beyond doubt with a typical close-range finish five minutes later.

Speaking after the 32-year-old winger reflected on the start made by Slot , he earmarked the differences between the incumbent boss and his predecessor. He said: "It's quite different because Jurgen was with the team for [nine years] in Liverpool.

"He gave everything and now it's a new manager, new system. It's quite different for all of us and we need to adapt. We just take it step by step because some players also came late. So we know his way of playing and we just need to enjoy the football."

In a message to supporters and pundits alike, Salah also implored that the Dutchman should be given time to settle into the post after Klopp's departure at the end of last term. He added: "We don't need to put more pressure on him, we just need to play football and enjoy our games."

On the game itself, it appeared that the Liverpool talisman was pleased with how the team coped during a difficult test in the first game of the new campaign. He continued: "It was quite tough today, the weather is really warm today, but it's a tough team - I'm glad that we won the game today and I'm always happy to make the difference for the team.

"That's the most important thing that the team won the game and we just need to carry on When they play at home especially it's quite tough, first game of the season the crowd is always up. We knew that before the game, we've played many years in the Premier League so we have that experience. We expected a tough game."

After setting a record for most goals on the opening day in Premier League history, Salah added: "Hopefully I'll keep going like this for the rest of the season, not just the first game. I'm always trying to help the team all the time, the most important thing is the team won the game. I'm always happy to be scoring goals, looking for assists. I just need to carry on."
