Arne Slot studied Jurgen Klopp training footage before taking on Liverpool job

Arne Slot studied Liverpool's training sessions under Jurgen Klopp before taking over from the German this summer.

The Dutchman has made an impressive start to life at Anfield as he gets to work on implementing his new style of play and appears to have channeled his fresh ideas into the squad well following four victories in pre-season and an opening day win in the Premier League .

But perhaps it's no surprise Liverpool's players have taken so well to their new manager, with Slot not all that different from Klopp in the way he works and likes to play - hence his employment by the Reds.

In fact, the 45-year-old has actually made a monumental effort to get to know how his players work before he even met them. According to The Times , Slot studied Klopp’s sessions from before his arrival, providing him with a platform to work with ahead of pre-season this summer.

Now, Slot watches back his own training sessions every day, with players receiving feedback within 24 hours on what they have been doing well or where they can get better. This is given in individual meetings, sometimes before training, at other times afterwards.

But he isn't the only one in the room when he sits down with members of his first-team squad. During the hands-on approach, coaches Sipke Hulshoff, John Heitinga and Aaron Briggs, are also involved to help players understand how they can improve.

One thing Slot certainly hasn't taken from Klopp's training sessions is allowing players to use flicks and tricks to help them out during rondos in training sessions. Rather than a warm-up mechanism, however, they have become an integral part of Slot’s sessions, The Times report adds.

The former Feyenoord boss and his staff instead encourage players to focus on opening up their body and moving into better positions to create better passing opportunities. The hope is that repetition should make it second nature for players when it comes to performing in games.

Regardless, Slot paid close attention to Klopp's training sessions for a number of reasons and now he'll be hoping that whatever he has decided to change will soon show in Liverpool's performances, as well as individual improvements throughout the squad.

The early signs, however, have been impressive as the Dutchman has certainly made an impression on his players, the fans and the rest of the watching world. Saturday's 2-0 victory over Ipswich offered just a glimpse into what to expect this season, especially with tougher opposition still to come.
