Ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has named Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in his Premier League Team of the Week .

The Liverpool winger helped the Reds to an opening day 2-0 win over Ipswich Town, in what was the Tractor Boys return to the Premier League for the first time in over 20 years. While Ipswich threw the kitchen sink at Liverpool in the first half, the Reds came out after the break with renewed vigour, putting in a much better display.

On the hour mark, Trent Alexander-Arnold fired a sublime ball in behind the Ipswich defence, with Mohamed Salah searing past Leif Davis to get onto the right-back's pass. It was an excellent ball that put Salah in the perfect position to square a pass into the path of Diogo Jota, who fired the Reds in front.

Then just five minutes later, Salah got himself on the scoresheet. A pass in behind from midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai was nearly cut out by Davis, only for Salah to race onto the loose ball to neatly double Liverpool's lead and wrap up all three points for Arne Slot's side.

Salah, who is out of contract next summer, looked sharp during the contest and registered his 300th goal contribution for Liverpool in his 350th game. And his performance earned him a spot in Harry Redknapp's BetVictor Team of the Week column, alongside the likes of Arsenal's Bukayo Saka and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.

Writing in his BetVictor column, Redknapp wrote: "I don’t think people appreciate Mohamed Salah enough. Game after game, year after year, he delivers. He was terrific again as Liverpool beat Ipswich 2-0. Aside from his goal, his general play was excellent, and he created the opener for Diogo Jota . Some of his passing was terrific, that’s always been an aspect of his game that I don’t think he gets the credit for."

Harry Redknapp's Team of the Week: Nick Pope [Newcastle United]; Rico Lewis [Manchester City], Ruben Dias [Manchester City], Lisandro Martinez [Manchester United], Jack Hinshelwood [Brighton & Hove Albion]; Mateo Kovacic [Manchester City], Amadou Onana [Aston Villa]; Bukayo Saka [Arsenal], Mohamed Salah [Liverpool], Bryan Mbeumo [Brentford]; Danny Welbeck [Brighton & Hove Albion]

Liverpool.com says: "Salah was electric against Ipswich on Saturday afternoon. Alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, Salah was the catalyst that got the Reds going at Portman Road. It was Alexander-Arnold who fired an unbelievable ball in behind to Salah for Liverpool's first of the afternoon, with the Egyptian winger neatly squaring a pass to Diogo Jota to score for the Reds.

"And then the Liverpool forward got himself on the scoresheet too five minutes after Jota's goal, wrapping up all three points for the Reds in their Premier League opener."
