Liverpool impressed from watching next Eduardo Camavinga 'extensively'

Liverpool could be about to sign its very own Eduardo Camavinga following reports that the Reds have been "extensively" watching a player likened to the Real Madrid star.

The Reds have been desperate to sign a defensive midfielder this summer and have already been dealt a major blow with the failure to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad , who has chosen to remain in Spain with his boyhood club rather than move to the Premier League .

Unfortunately for Arne Slot and co., it was back to square one, yet an alternative may have already been identified ahead of transfer deadline day next Friday (August 30), with Liverpool yet to sign a single player all summer.

According to FootballTransfers , Liverpool has been closely following Daniel Svensson of Nordsjaelland, a midfielder who has been dubbed as "Camavinga's clone" by the report. It's added that the Reds have been keeping a close eye on his progress and have been watching the player "extensively".

The 22-year-old has impressed for Nordsjaelland in the Danish Superliga over the last four seasons and has become a mainstay in its midfield, racking up a total of 139 appearances in all competitions since arriving in 2020 from Swedish outfit IF Brommapojkarna.

Svensson has also recorded eight goals and 18 assists during his time at the club, and currently has 17 caps to his name for Sweden's Under-21's. So far this season, he has featured five times for Nordsjaelland, although just one of those has come in a central midfield role.

According to the report, Svensson's ability to slot into numerous different positions has caught Liverpool's eye, with the Swede having so far reverted into a right-back and left-back role this campaign. Furthermore, the Reds believe his physicality is ideal for the Premier League.

Data analytics firm SciSports has already compared Svensson favorably to the likes of Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga and Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, who are renowned for being some of the world's best in the No. 6 role.

The comparisons indicate that Svensson has a similar style to these players, meaning he could be the perfect fit for Liverpool's defensive midfield role under Slot this season. Ryan Gravenberch was used as a No. 6 Liverpool , but the Dutchman is not the long-term solution.

Luckily for the Reds, Svensson is only expected to cost around the $1.9million (£1.4m/€1.7m) mark, as per his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV), while his current contract only runs until 2027 with his Danish side. Therefore, there should be no issues regarding negotiations.

However, Liverpool may have to fight off the likes of Serie A giants Juventus for the midfielders signature, who were linked with a move at the end of last season - although it's claimed they favor him as a left-back rather than a midfielder.
