Who is Daniel Svensson? Liverpool scouts blown away by 'next Eduardo Camavinga'

After missing out on the chance to sign midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Liverpool has shifted its focus to Swedish budding star Daniel Svensson . Even though club icon Jamie Redknapp cautioned against panic buying in the transfer window, Svensson remains a top target for Liverpool and Juventus.

The versatile playmaking midfielder has been compared to Real Madrid's French star Eduardo Camavinga, making him highly sought after, according to Football Transfers . Before moving to Madrid, Camavinga proved himself at Stade Rennais as a 16-year-old, quickly making waves in the Champions League .

Svensson's professional career started at 18 when he signed his first contract with IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden. His skill set was quickly discovered after just six appearances with the club. He was then sold to Nordsjaelland in Denmark for the small fee of $301, according to TransferMarkt. Starting with the U19 squad, Svensson began his senior debut during the 2020 Danish Superliga season. He instantly made an impact and grabbed two assists in 22 matches while logging 1,400 minutes on the pitch.

Last season, Svensson's development continued after becoming one of Nordsjaelland's most reliable players. He appeared in 31 of the club's 32 league games and added two goals and eight assists, ranking him second behind FC Copenhagen's Elias Achouri. Achouri previously earned recognition from Man City's Erling Haaland for his performances, highlighting the allure of Svensson.

His appeal isn't just due to his ability to score or assist; it's his versatility and decision-making on the pitch. He's logged minutes in the midfield and defense, showing the ability to transition seamlessly between roles.

Svensson has already played five matches this season. He opened the campaign with a 3-0 win over Aalborg, followed by a draw against Midtjylland. His versatility was displayed in the third game of the season, where he started at left back in a 1-0 victory over Vejle BK. In game four, Svensson was moved again to right back in a 1-1 draw against Lyngby. He was moved to left back again in a 4-1 loss to Silkeborg.

As a modern box-to-box midfielder, Svensson's highlights show that he is elite at cutting off passing lanes, spreading the ball with purpose, and carrying it into the final third. His contract expires in 2027, so clubs are eager to secure his services while his market value remains relatively low. TransferMarkt lists Svensson's evaluation at $3.34 million, a bargain for a player compared to one of Real Madrid's best La Liga and Champions League performers.

While Svensson's play style has drawn comparisons to Camavinga, statistically, his performances have been compared to those of Tottenham's new signing, Archie Gray, as well as veteran and versatile defenders like Marcelo and Jordi Alba.

Atlanta United's 19-year-old defender Caleb Wiley has been mentioned in a similar style to Svensson, highlighting his range of abilities. While there are no official quotes from Liverpool regarding Svensson, reports have suggested that the club closely monitored his performance last year and this season.
