Jermaine Jenas wasted no time in securing a new gig with talkSPORT , just moments after news broke of his BBC exit . But a U-turn from the radio station means he will no longer take part in his scheduled appearances on the airwaves.

Liverpool fans will no longer see Jenas host "Match of the Day" as a substitute for Gary Lineker or Mark Chapman after he was sacked by the BBC. The corporation has confirmed the former Premier League star was let go after "complaints about workplace conduct".

A spokesperson from the BBC stated: "We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up."

Yet Jenas has swiftly bounced back, landing a spot with competitor talkSPORT. The 41-year-old co-hosted talkSPORT's "Drive" show with former Liverpool ace Jermaine Pennant - just moments after his BBC exit hit the headlines.

While Jenas has featured on talkSPORT before as a guest, this marked his debut as a lead presenter. However, after the show concluded, talkSPORT chiefs confirmed to the Mirror that Jenas would not be appearing on their station in the future.

They also confirmed the decision for Jenas to continue to present Thursday's show was a joint one made by Jenas and talkSPORT bosses.

"We were made aware of a breaking news story involving Jermaine Jenas as he went on air for a one-off presenting slot on talkSPORT Drive. We made a decision - with Jermaine - that he should continue to present the show," a spokesperson said.

"Given the array of serious allegations being reported as the story continues to evolve, it's for Jermaine as a private individual to address them in the way he chooses. There are no plans for Jermaine to broadcast as a presenter on talkSPORT in the immediate future."

Jenas' tenure at the BBC saw him take on various roles, including punditry and presenting duties on "Match of the Day" and hosting stints on "The One Show". His last appearance on the latter programme was with Alex Jones on 22 July.

He also fronted "MOTDx", a youth-oriented spin-off that was cancelled last season, and was part of the team covering Euro 2024. Jenas was considered a likely candidate to follow in Lineker's footsteps as the premier face of "Match of the Day".
