Liverpool will be aiming to make it two wins from Arne Slot's first two games when it welcomes Brentford to Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds currently sit third in the top flight standings following last weekend's 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town and will be hoping to cement their place in the top four for a second successive week with another three points from their clash with the Bees.

Slot's side is understandably the favorite heading into Sunday's tie on Merseyside, although it's not expected to be fully plain-sailing against Thomas Frank's outfit, who also got its campaign off to a flyer with a 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace last time out.

Amongst the visitors' ranks is former Liverpool attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho , who joined the west London outfit earlier this month in a deal worth up to $36.4million (£27.5m/€32.5m) . In fact, the Portuguese was joined by another of Liverpool's youngsters on Friday when defender Sepp van den Berg made the permanent switch to the capital .

Now, both will be aiming to stamp their mark on their former side should they both feature in Sunday's clash, although the visitors have been predicted to struggle on their travels to Anfield this weekend.

Up against a Liverpool side playing at home for the first time this season, and in front of a crowd who will be looking forward to welcoming the new manager to the club, it seems like an almost impossible task for the Bees, according to former West Ham and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp.

As a result, he predicted a 3-1 victory for the Reds. "Starting with an away win was big for Arne Slot. I’m sure he’ll get a brilliant reception on his Anfield debut here," he told BetVictor .

"Ivan Toney’s still at Brentford for now but it looks more likely that he will leave in this window. They showed there was life after him last week though and with Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa up front, they’ll always have a threat.

"I won’t be shocked if Brentford grab a goal on the break, but Anfield will be rocking, and I can see a comfortable win."

Redknapp also highlighted Diogo Jota as the main threat for Liverpool this weekend after the Portuguese found himself on the scoresheet against Ipswich last time out.

"Keeping Diogo Jota fit could be a game-changer for Liverpool this season," he said. "For me, he's one of the best finishers in the Premier League and he showed it again last week."

The 77-year-old even weighed in on Liverpool's lack of transfer activity, claiming that Slot is bound to want some fresh faces through the door. However, the former manager also admires the Reds' self-control to not go and repeat the antics of Chelsea .

"He’s bound to want at least one or two signings in by the end of the window," Redknapp said of Slot. "But Liverpool clearly don’t want to just sign players for the sake of it. You’ve got to admire that, it’s the opposite of Chelsea right now!"
