Jurgen Klopp confirms future plans as Liverpool legend enjoys 'brilliant summer'

When Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool , he was absolutely clear that he needed a rest. The plan was to have a year off, take a lengthy break, and enjoy life — and that has not changed .

He has been linked with various jobs including with the England national team following Gareth Southgate's departure and the USMNT role was mooted before Mauricio Pochettino agreed to take the job - but Klopp is taking some time to relax. A return to soccer at some point, though, has never been ruled out.

Now, he says he is "fully charged" again after the summer. "I didn't say I can go again," he told ESPN Netherlands . "It's just, I'm in a good mood? Yeah. Life is different if we are not responsible for these kind of things, so I really enjoy that.

"I enjoy still watching football and especially [Red Bull] Salzburg right now because, [manager] Pep [Lijnders] is super important to me so I like watching it and like to see the progress.

"I saw Liverpool playing as well [which] was really good. These are the things I watched, but besides that, it was a lot of Olympics and stuff like that.

"Brilliant summer so far. You have to organize the time off as well, because a lot of people want to meet you and stuff like that. So we had to calm down a little bit, but we are fine. We have spent now three proper weeks with the grandkids and the kids together. It was beautiful."

Liverpool.com says: There will be no shortage of suitors for Klopp if he decides that he wants to work again but the German national team seems like the logical choice. Julian Nagelsmann will not occupy that position forever and a national job would be a nice blend of having time off but also something to work towards.

Klopp would be able to spend time in his homeland and have most of the year off, but still be involved in the game. That feels like a decent next step for him, but he remains in no rush.
