TNT Sports pundit Laura Woods was impressed by Liverpool's second half performance against Ipswich Town last weekend in what was Arne Slot's first competitive game in charge of the Reds .

The opening 45 minutes saw Ipswich Town threaten Liverpool on several occasions. Had it not been for Alisson, who saved an Omari Hutchinson shot from distance with ease, and a close range Jacob Greaves header, Liverpool could have found themselves 1-0 down at the break.

However, after half-time, Liverpool looked much improved. They scored twice through Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah , comfortably dispatching the newly promoted side. It was a reassuring performance from Liverpool after the break, and one that will fill Reds supporters with confidence ahead of their clash this weekend against Brentford.

And it also left pundit Laura Woods impressed too. Speaking to BetMGM , the TNT Sports broadcaster admitted that while life after Jurgen Klopp at Anfield was never going to be easy for any manager, the Reds look to have made an astute appointment in Slot if their second half performance against Ipswich is anything to go by.

"Liverpool have enjoyed an absolute love affair with Jurgen Klopp and – for the majority – many of us neutrals have too," Woods said.

How do you reckon Arne Slot will fare at Anfield this season? Let us know in the comments section below.

"So life after Klopp was never going to be easy. A first league game for Arne Slot against newly promoted Ipswich could have been tricky, especially as Ipswich started life back in the league with intent. Liverpool looked slightly disjointed.

"Arne adapted at half time and that’s something I’d take a lot of faith in. It shows he has a plan B and can react and turn a game into a victory. It’s not the performance that will define the Slot era, but there were plenty of positives for Liverpool fans. What will be interesting is if and who they sign before the window shuts."

Liverpool.com says: "The second half performance against Ipswich Town was a reassuring one for Liverpool supporters. Slot identified what needed to change at half-time, with the Dutchman taking off Jarell Quansah for Ibrahima Konate, a substitution that allowed the Reds to win more duels, creating a platform for them to play.

"And play they did. Liverpool ran rampant in the second half against Ipswich. Had they not been as profligate with their chances as they were, the scoreline would have been much bigger than just 2-0."
