Liverpool transfer round-up as Levi Colwill eyed amid Teun Koopmeiners 'request'

Whether Liverpool signs anyone in the final week of the summer transfer window is anyone's guess - but the Reds certainly won't go down without a fight.

The latest reports are suggesting that Arne Slot and Richard Hughes are desperately trying to bring in at least one fresh face over the next few days but things certainly aren't going to be easy, although anything is possible if the right money is involved.

However, it definitely appears that the Reds are after a new center-back and defensive midfielder, with Slot keen to reinforce his backline and bring in a natural No.6. While the likes of Bayer Leverkusen's Piero Hincapie have been strongly linked for the center-back role , a new name has now emerged.

And it's certainly a name that nobody expected to hear the Reds linked with in the final few days of the summer transfer window, with Levi Colwill a major figurehead in Chelsea's backline. The Blues defender has been previously linked with a move to Anfield , although nothing concrete has ever emerged.

However, with the looming threat of Joe Gomez departing the club next week, Liverpool has been forced to take action. According to GiveMeSport , Colwill is now considered as a serious option to replace the 27-year-old.

It's previously been reported that Liverpool has already held talks with Chelsea to learn about the details of signing Colwill this summer and it's believed the player is currently valued at around $53 million (£40m/€47m), making him a much more affordable option that Hincapie at Leverkusen.

But while Liverpool attempts to juggle a deal for Colwill, hijacking a deal for Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners is also on the agenda. As things stand, the Netherlands international has been left out of the Serie A side's squad this weekend as he looks to resolve his long-term future.

According to reports, Koopmeiners is closing in on a move to Juventus , yet Liverpool has been handed the perfect opportunity to nick him from its hands. TeamTalk reports that Atalanta would prefer selling the 26-year-old abroad and the Reds have made a new request on the player.

However, the Turin-based outfit is yet to close an agreement as they want to pay the transfer fee in installments, yet Liverpool has the money to pay it all up front and could use its financial muscle to strike a deal.

Elsewhere, a remarkable report claims that Liverpool is set to go all-in for a last-minute deal to sign Lille forward Jonathan David. The Reds are already stacked in attack but its claimed Slot is keen for further reinforcements.

CaughtOffside claims that the Dutchman is a fan of the Canada international and wants to add him to his squad within the next few days, with Liverpool viewing the player as a valuable addition to the current squad.

However, the Reds will have to cough up big money for the Ligue 1 star, with Lille reportedly seeking a fee in the region of $56 million (£42m/€50m) if it is to allow David, who has 43 goals contributions since the start of last season, to leave next week.
