Arne Slot provided a brilliant moment live on air as he ribbed Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher following the Reds' win over Brentford at Anfield .

Slot's first home match in charge of Liverpool ended in a 2-0 victory, with familiar faces Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah scoring to secure all three points.

Carragher was in the process of analysing the match in his role as a Sky Sports pundit when Slot emerged for his post-match interview, taking all the attention away from the former centre-back.

"I'm talking and you're not even looking at me," a laughing Carragher said to anchor Kelly Cates, to which Slot quickly responded: "Does anyone ever listen to him?" Cates and the panel of pundits laughed as Carragher said: "That's the clip, that's the meme... it's done."

Going on to analyze Liverpool's performance after his team made it six points from two Premier League games, Slot said: "Our defensive performance today was really good. The only two chances we conceded were from set-pieces, but we controlled their counter-attacks, we controlled them in their build-up, and we created many good chances, especially in the second half."

For the second game in a row, Liverpool's performance improved markedly after half-time and Slot admitted that he wants his players to play consistently well over the course of matches.

"Ideally you would see the same in the first half as the second half, but I think we positioned ourselves quite well everywhere around the pitch," Slot added.

"In the first half there was more energy in the other team, but if you keep on persisting in what you do, and the execution becomes better and I think in the second half, the positioning was a bit better as well, then it eventually leads to gaps that open up. In the end you could see that Brentford didn't have the legs to defend us."
