Liverpool is inching closer to signing Juventus forward Federico Chiesa .

Now, details are starting to emerge about his potential contract. Chiesa, 26, is available for a bargain €15 million ($17 million) fee, mainly because he is out of contract in June 2025. He's also suffered a string of injuries during the past few years, decreasing his value.

According to The Athletic , Liverpool is discussing a four-year contract with the Italian. Chiesa's current Juventus contract of €178,077 a week ($199,000) would place him as the fifth-highest weekly earner in Liverpool's squad, behind only Mohammed Salah, Virgil van Dijk , Trent Alexander-Arnold , and Andrew Robertson.

However, his new role with the Reds would likely not match whatever contract he might sign, especially if it's a raise. Chiesa would not unseat any of Arne Slot's preferred front three of Salah, Diogo Jota , and Luis Diaz.

The Juventus winger would likely come in as the club's sixth-choice attacker, pending any rumors surrounding mercurial striker Darwin Nunez. He would offer director cover to Diaz on the left wing, a current weakness in the team.

Chiesa has already had quite the rollercoaster of a career. His father, Enrico Chiesa, featured 17 times for the Italian national team and starred with clubs like Fiorentina and Siena. The younger Chiesa enjoyed a breakthrough at Fiorentina before earning a big-money move to reigning champions Juventus for close to €50 million ($55.8 million) in 2020.

The Italian had a stunning first campaign, contributing 16 goal involvements (plus a further two with Fiorentina before the transfer) at an impressive 0.57 npxG+xA per 90 minutes. He then starred for Italy that summer as Gli Azzurri took home the Euros title in July 2021.

Chiesa's Transfermarkt value soared in correspondence with his success and age (just 23), as the site valued him at a whopping €70 million ($78 million). Then, Chiesa was hit with the injury bug . He suffered a cruciate ligament tear in January of 2022 that kept him out through November, and a series of injuries limited his game time in 2021/22 and 2022/23.

He managed to stay fit last season and scored nine goals in the league as Juventus managed a third-place finish. He's always a player more for the individual moment than patches of consistency. Chiesa has been left of new Juventus manager Thiago Motta's plans, who has opted to start untested academy player Samuel Mbangula on the left wing instead.
