Liverpool is eyeing a last-minute transfer deal for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

The Italy international has been sidelined by new manager Thiago Motta, making an exit from the club increasingly likely. With only one year left on his contract, Chiesa could be snapped up for a bargain price of £13 million ($16.8 million). While Liverpool's interest is still in its early stages, negotiations could kick off soon as Friday's transfer deadline looms.

The 26-year-old Chiesa offers versatility, capable of playing on either wing or behind the striker. Although he's spent most of his career on the right wing, recent seasons have seen him deployed as a left winger or secondary striker.

Liverpool is already planning for life after Mohamed Salah , whose contract expires next summer, and currently lack natural replacements for the 32-year-old right winger. However, a move for Chiesa isn't without its risks.

Following a cruciate ligament injury in January 2022, Chiesa has suffered at least 12 separate setbacks, including five last season. Despite this, his impressive record of 55 goal involvements in 131 appearances for Juventus - more than one every three games - could make him an attractive prospect for a cut-price transfer.

Should Liverpool secure Chiesa's signature, here's how Arne Slot's squad could shape up this season...

Goalkeepers: Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher, Vitezslav Jaros.

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold , Conor Bradley, Virgil van Dijk , Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez , Jarell Quansah, Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas.

Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo, Federico Chiesa, Curtis Jones , Dominik Szoboszlai , Harvey Elliott .

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Ben Doak, Trey Nyoni, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo , Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota .

This squad leaves out Stefan Bajcetic who appears to be heading for a season-long loan at RB Salzburg, under the management of Jurgen Klopp's former assistant Pep Lijnders. This selection also sees Kelleher remain, which would delight Liverpool fans but may not be the goalkeeper's first choice. Academy prodigy Nyoni might be included in the squad to meet the homegrown quota requirement.
