Liverpool is on the verge of completing the signing of Federico Chiesa after agreeing a fee with Juventus for the Italy international. Arne Slot has waited until the end of the window with Liverpool following up the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili with a swoop for Chiesa.

But while the Georgian goalkeeper will not arrive until 2025, Chiesa will be expected to make an impact from the off at Anfield . He is out of contract at Juventus at the end of the season but Liverpool has still managed to land him for a bargain fee of around $13m (£10m) plus add-ons.

Chiesa was seen boarding a private jet on Wednesday afternoon in Italy and it appears he has now touched down on Merseyside.

A social media post from Liverpool John Lennon Airport confirmed that a Cessna private jet had now landed from Italy, with Chiesa believed to be inside. The upload at just before 4pm (BST) read: "A view from the Old Air Traffic Control Tower of a Cessna landing from Turin moments ago. On a completely unrelated note, the Italian word for church is chiesa."

Chiesa is now expected to travel to Liverpool's AXA Training Centre to undergo a medical and agree personal terms. There is not expected to be any issues, despite the Italian having struggled with injuries in recent years.

The 26-year-old spoke to reporters shortly before boarding the private jet in Turin. He admitted he was excited about the move as he prepares for his first taste of English football.

"I am happy, I am very happy. I want to say goodbye to the Bianconeri fans," Chiesa told reporters at the airport, according to Football Italia . "Thanks for the affection over these years. I’ll carry you in my heart. Thanks to Juventus."

Asked if he was sad to leave Juventus , he replied: “I’m very happy, I can’t wait to become new Liverpool player. Me and my family, we’re so happy really” Let me say thanks to Juventus and the fans, they have been always special with me. Now it’s time for Liverpool. I’m so happy. I can’t wait!”.

Chiesa could make his Liverpool debut this weekend, with the Reds taking on fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
