Federico Chiesa could solve one of Liverpool boss Arne Slot's 'obsessions ' as he closes in on his move to Anfield .
The Juventus winger looks set to become a Liverpool player after it emerged he was travelling from Italy to Merseyside on Wednesday to sign for the Reds . A deal worth around around $14.5m (£11.0m/€13.0m) has been struck between the two sides, with Chiesa becoming Liverpool's second signing of the transfer window.
Just a day prior, the Reds announced the signing of Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will spend the remainder of this season on-loan with the La Liga side and link up with Liverpool next summer. In signing Chiesa, Liverpool are taking a risk.

The 26-year-old missed 91 games in four seasons with Juventus, but at one point was one of Europe's hottest prospects. If Liverpool can get the best out of Chiesa, they may have just made one of the signings of the summer.
And it would also see them tackle three potential issues, as well as sate Slot's 'obsession' with wingers. Despite already having plenty of attackers, Slot was keen to bring in another winger this summer.
Liverpool were reportedly interested in landing Newcastle winger and boyhood Reds fan Anthony Gordon. While no move emerged, it was an indicator that Liverpool would potentially look to bring in another winger this summer.

Slot reportedly loves wingers, and during his time at Feyenoord, wanted the recruitment team to regularly sign them , like they did last season when they brought in Yankuba Minteh on-loan from Newcastle United. Minteh has since moved on to Brighton after an impressive season under Slot last term.
In bringing in Chiesa, Liverpool would also have their Mohamed Salah back-up - and potential successor, for a cut-rate price in today's market. And then there's the fact that Chiesa's price tag is significantly cheaper than the one they would have had to fork over to Newcastle for Gordon's signature.
Put simply, if it works out, this could be a sensational signing for the Reds who will hope they can keep the Italian fit and involved this season.
Liverpool.com says: "There's every chance that if Federico Chiesa impresses this season for Liverpool when deputizing for Mohamed Salah, it could mean the Reds move on from their interest in Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. If Slot can coax the form out of Chiesa that made him one of Europe's hottest prospects, and the Italian stays fit, this could be one of the signings of the summer transfer window.
