Federico Chiesa told Arne Slot he is raring to go at Liverpool in the pair's first in-person exchange at the AXA Training Centre.

Chiesa became Liverpool's first outfield signing of the summer transfer window earlier this week, joining the Reds for a fee that could rise to $16million from Juventus .

Slot and Chiesa came face to face for the first time at Liverpool's training ground this week, with Slot saying: "Good to see you in real life! You've already met the boys?"

"Yes, yes, we've met," Chiesa responded, to which Slot said: "It's good to have you". Chiesa then said: "Thank you very much. I'm ready to train today. I'm so happy. Very excited."

Chiesa joined Liverpool after being told he was not in new Juventus manager Thiago Motta's plans for the new campaign. Speaking in a press conference ahead of Liverpool's trip to Manchester United on Sunday, Slot said that Chiesa was unlikely to be involved at Old Trafford, but the fact he's willing to train so early proves he's eager to make a name for himself on Merseyside.

"He is going to train with us today, but there is a bigger chance that he's not in the squad for Sunday than he is," Slot said. "If injuries might come up, we might need him. I don't expect him to be in, but I can not guarantee."

Chiesa revealed this week that he listened to 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as the plane he travelled to England in flew over Anfield on its way into Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Chiesa told club media: "I saw Anfield and as soon as I saw Anfield I said to my wife, 'Put the song on – 'You'll Never Walk Alone' – because I want to imagine myself playing there and hearing the chant of the fans.' It was just a fun bit."

On how it will feel when he hears the chant for real, Chiesa replied: "I will have shivers and it will be so emotional for me and for my family."
