Manchester United could be without as many as six players this weekend as Liverpool travels to Old Trafford in the Premier League . Mason Mount confirmed he has another problem earlier this week while Erik ten Hag has several others sidelined already this season.

Like Mount, Rasmus Hojlund also has a thigh injury and the Scandinavian striker will therefore not be involved. And then there are four defenders who are set to be missing.

Luke Shaw (calf/shin/heel), Victor Lindelof (ankle), Tyrell Malacia (knee) and Leny Yoro (ankle) are all going to be absent for Manchester United with Ten Hag struggling for numbers at the back. New signing Manuel Ugarte was snapped up from PSG but he will not be involved this weekend having arrived too late.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot , meanwhile, has been handed a boost this week with only one player currently sidelined. Curtis Jones didn't train on Friday and he is therefore a major doubt for this weekend. It is only a minor muscle injury but Jones is yet to play a minute this season having not come off the bench when he was in the matchday squad at Ipswich Town.

Federico Chiesa was signed in time to be involved if Liverpool believes that would be beneficial. The Italian international was in team training with his new teammates for the first time on Friday but he hasn't played since the European Championship and might need to undergo some further work before he is deemed ready to be involved even from the bench.

Liverpool.com says: After the three frustrating matches last season against Manchester United, Liverpool has a point to prove this weekend at Old Trafford. With more clinical finishing, the Reds could have wiped the floor with their arch-rival more than once but somehow conspired not to at all during Jurgen Klopp's final campaign. This year, it needs to be different.
