Danny Simpson teases fight vs Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher after Misfits bout with Danny Aarons

Danny Simpson has playfully hinted at a boxing battle with Jamie Carragher. The former Leicester City hero, who clinched the Premier League crown, is set to step into the Misfits ring for the first time tonight in Dublin, facing off against Danny Aarons.

Having hung up his football boots in July after a brief stint with Macclesfield and playing his last pro league game for Bristol City in October 2021, Simpson's now lacing up the gloves.

But rewind to 2017, that's when the online feud with Carragher kicked off it all began with Carragher's national newspaper critique suggesting shame on Leicester's squad following Claudio Ranieri's dismissal.

Months of witty exchange ensued, with memorable moments like Carragher's snake-adorned pose captioned 'Finally get my hands on @dannysimpson. ' Not to be outdone, Simpson clapped back, posting his Premier League medal win as a retort.

Though the dust has settled and respect stands firm, with Simpson acknowledging "you never know" concerning a ring face-off. He said, "Me and Carra made up, and I have got mad respect for Carra," adding, "But something like me and Carra for charity, I think that would be interesting.

"I actually think a lot of people would love to see that. You know what it is like, and I had some banter last year with Liverpool fans.

"United have not been great these last few years, but after knocking them out of the cup last year, I was working on the pitch, but it has always been banter. With Gary Neville around as well, there is always that banter. But, in terms of a fight, you never know."
