Liverpool travels to Manchester United today hoping for Arne Slot to pick up a victory at Old Trafford at the first attempt. And when it comes to the starting XI that the Dutch head coach could select, it should be quite straightforward to predict .

Alisson Becker will be in goal and the back four is almost certain to be the same as it was last weekend against Brentford. Trent Alexander-Arnold , who didn't look too pleased to be hooked in that game, will surely start at right-back, with Ibrahima Konate keeping his place at center-back alongside Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson .

In midfield, Curtis Jones is set to be absent with a minor muscle injury meaning his wait to play a competitive game under Slot will continue. Ryan Gravenberch will be the player at the base of the midfield with this being the first big test of just how well-suited he is to playing in that position .

Alexis Mac Allister is likely to be to Gravenberch's left and then Dominik Szoboszlai will be to his right. Harvey Elliott and Wataru Endo will be the options off the bench.

In the Liverpool forward line, it is hard to look past Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota keeping their places while Mohamed Salah is a certainty from the right. That leaves Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez as impact players from the sidelines.

Federico Chiesa could be involved in the matchday squad but the Italy winger has not played competitively since the European Championship in the summer. Slot said on Friday that it was likelier he would miss out with his debut potentially coming against Nottingham Forest at Anfield following the international break.

Liverpool predicted starting XI against Manchester United: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Salah, Jota, Diaz.
